What is KeepWell Family Medicine?

In 2018, we opened the doors of YourFamilyDoc Arlington with a simple mission: to provide a different kind of healthcare for our friends and neighbors across the community.

After nearly 25 years in private practice, we had watched large healthcare systems and insurance companies do more and more to maximize profit while putting distance between patients and their providers. Too often, healthcare had become a game of whack-a-mole, chasing the symptom in front of us rather than understanding the bigger picture of your health, your goals and where you want to go.

When we opened YourFamilyDoc, single-visit cash-pay appointments gave us a way to provide affordable, direct care outside the traditional insurance model. But over time, we realized those visits could still keep us focused on today’s concern rather than helping you make the most of your many tomorrows. We were spending too much time helping people get well without enough opportunity to help them stay well.

That realization led us to KeepWell Family Medicine.

KeepWell is built around a simple, affordable, flat-rate membership for you and your family. Instead of treating each visit as a separate transaction, membership gives us the opportunity to build an ongoing relationship and better understand the complete picture of your health over time.

Our goal is to be more than the doctor you see when something goes wrong. We want to serve as your physician, partner, teacher and coach, helping you understand your health, make informed decisions, manage concerns as they arise and develop strategies that support the life you want to live for many tomorrows to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

Membership changes the relationship between you and your doctor. Rather than relying on isolated, transactional visits, KeepWell gives us the time and continuity to better understand your health, follow your progress and make decisions together.

  • Consistency: You have an ongoing relationship with a practice that knows you, your health history, your needs and your goals. That familiarity helps us provide care that is more personal and informed.
  • Continuity: Health does not happen one appointment at a time. We can follow trends, monitor changes, measure what is and is not working and adjust your plan as your needs evolve.
  • Collaboration: Good healthcare should be a conversation. We want you at the table as we consider options, answer questions and choose a plan of action that makes sense for your health and your goals.
  • Comprehensive care: Membership allows us to look beyond an isolated symptom and consider the bigger picture. Whether you are working to stay ahead of future concerns or better manage an existing condition, we can build strategies around your complete health.
  • Convenience: A simple, predictable membership makes it easier to maintain an ongoing relationship with your physician rather than waiting until something becomes urgent enough to justify another one-time visit.

At its heart, membership gives us more opportunity to practice medicine the way we believe it should be practiced: relational, conversational, proactive and centered on helping you stay well.

Your KeepWell membership is designed around ongoing primary care rather than paying for each visit separately. This gives us the opportunity to address immediate concerns when they arise while also focusing on prevention, routine care, chronic condition management, follow-up, health education and your longer-term wellness goals.

Your membership provides priority access to your physician, whether you need ongoing care or something unexpected comes up. Simply call or email, and most visits can be scheduled within 24 hours and around your schedule.

You will also have access to comprehensive lab work at or near cost, giving us valuable information to better understand your health, establish a baseline and guide your ongoing care and treatment options.

As we get to know your baseline and establish a plan for managing any chronic conditions, telehealth can make routine follow-up even more convenient. For many members, questions and ongoing care can be handled through phone or email communication when an in-person visit is not necessary.

We will also be launching a members-only dashboard featuring practical health and wellness resources created by Doc and the KeepWell team. These on-demand resources will answer common questions about living well, staying active and sorting through common medical myths. Have a topic you would like us to cover? Send it our way, and Doc would be happy to consider adding it to the dashboard.

While your KeepWell membership is designed to be all-inclusive, a $20 co-pay may apply when an appointment is scheduled on a non-clinic day or outside our typical business hours. We will always work with you to understand your options and avoid additional co-pays whenever possible.

Just as important, membership gives us the opportunity to know you over time. Instead of starting from scratch each time something changes, we can consider your history, track your progress and build on the conversations and decisions we have already made together.

For members between the ages of 19 and 59, the monthly fee is only $50. Membership is paid on a six-month term, and a 10% discount is available when paying for an entire year in advance.

For youth 17 and younger, membership is only $35 per month when added alongside an adult family member’s membership. For members 60 and older, membership fees are just $75 per month.

No. The move to a membership model of primary care means we will no longer schedule single-visit cash-pay appointments. This model has allowed us to provide urgent care at an affordable price, but it has not allowed us to fully achieve our goal of providing personalized, proactive care.

Existing patients who have seen us for single-visit cash-pay appointments should consider an ongoing membership using the form above or explore nearby urgent care or primary care services.

A KeepWell membership is designed to be all-inclusive for your primary and ongoing medical care. For some individuals who are generally healthy and rarely need specialty or emergency care, that may mean choosing to rely on KeepWell for primary care without maintaining a costly traditional insurance policy. That is a personal decision you can explore with Doc as we understand your baseline, consider your individual needs and map out a plan for your care.

It is important to remember that KeepWell is not health insurance. Your membership is focused on the primary care we provide and does not pay hospital, emergency, specialty or other medical expenses outside our practice. Depending on your health needs, financial circumstances and comfort with those potential expenses, you may want additional protection for larger or unexpected medical costs.

For some members, that may mean pairing KeepWell with a high-deductible insurance plan or exploring a health-sharing program such as Samaritan Ministries, Medi-Share or Sedera. While every program works a little differently, health-sharing programs use a community-oriented approach in which members voluntarily share eligible medical expenses.

Health-sharing programs are not insurance, and each program has its own membership requirements, eligible expenses and sharing guidelines. If you are considering one, we encourage you to review those details carefully so you understand what expenses may or may not be shared.

Pairing KeepWell with insurance or a health-sharing program can provide a simple comprehensive healthcare coverage plan. Your KeepWell membership supports the everyday primary care, prevention and ongoing relationship you need to stay well, while your additional plan or program can help you prepare financially for bigger medical needs should they arise.
